这是最新Firefox程式码的公众预览版。新版浏览器支援45种语言，主要以软体开发者和早期采用者为对象，供他们测试新的功能。软体还附有详尽的已知软体错误(bugs)清单。

这个版本最重要的改良之一，是在各种作业系统环境下执行时，外观和感觉都变得不一样了，而且效能和稳定度也提高了。新版根据Gecko 1.9 rendering引擎，内含14000个程式更新。

在效能方面，软体说明文件指出，有些应用程式(例如Google Mail和Zoho Office)在Firefox 3环境跑，执行速度比Firefox 2快一倍，而且记忆体使用情况也有改善。

此外，书签(bookmarks)、曾经浏览的网页、cookies和个人偏好等，也比较不容易发生资料遗失的问题。
